The Guide
EVA PIERRAKOS
From the website personalityspirituality.net …
Eva Pierrakos (née Wassermann) was a remarkable woman who, while living in New York City in her twenties, discovered she had a gift for mediumship in the form of automatic writing. One day her automatic writing suggested that she meditate during which time she moved into a trance state from which her inner guidance manifested more clearly. Thereafter, she became a trance channel, one who mentally steps out of the way in order to allow a higher consciousness to speak through her directly.
Eva realised that spiritual channelling was her life task. She succeeded in becoming a channel for a highly developed spiritual consciousness, “the Guide,” who offered insights into the human condition and the spiritual path. The Guide never identified itself, and refused to answer inquiries about its identity.
A patron of Eva’s allowed her the use of a New York City penthouse apartment to live in and provide channelled lectures or question-and-answer sessions to all “seekers” of knowledge that were guided to come. Accordingly, from 1957 to 1979, Eva and the Guide produced a series of 258 lectures, known as “The Pathwork Lectures” or “The Guide Lectures.” These lectures have offered profound concepts and tools to help all who undertake the process of self-transformation.
In 1967, Eva met and married John Pierrakos. John was one of the founders of bioenergetics, a system based upon an understanding of how psychological energy blocks manifest in the body. Eva added some of the energy teachings to her own work and developed the “Pathwork approach.” In 1972, she opened the first Pathwork Center in the Catskill Mountains near Phonecia, New York. John went on to develop the Instutute of Core Energetics.
Eva died in 1979, John in 2001. Since Eva died, her work has been carried on by her students and new Pathwork Centers have opened up in North America, Europe, Africa, South America and Australia.
THE PATH
There are many who seek a path to enlightenment or to God, but the Guide emphasizes that the specific path we each take is ours alone. There is no predefined program which will turn us into an enlightened being. We must each take responsibility for finding and following our own path. In doing so, we become pathfinders.
It is by recognizing ourselves as human that we open up to the divine within us. The path of spiritual evolution is really a path of self-discovery and self-purification. According to the Guide, our everyday consciousness serves as a bridge between the highest and lowest parts of ourselves. The Guide’s focus on confronting and transforming the darkness within distinguishes these teachings from many others. The Guide insists that the darkness within us cannot be glossed over, ignored, or suppressed. It has to be confronted, brought to light, and transformed.
INTERNATIONAL PATHWORK FOUNDATION
The International Pathwork Foundation website may be found here. On its website, the Foundation says that ...
"Pathwork is a body of practical wisdom that lays out a step-by-step journey into personal transformation and wholeness, down to the very core of our being, offering guidance and advice for self-development and personal growth. It is a voyage of discovery to the Real Self through the layers of our defenses, denial and fear."
THE PATHWORK LECTURES
The International Pathwork Foundation makes the following statement about the lectures on its website:
"The 1996 Edition, which contains 258 lectures, some of which were transcribed from question and answer sessions, has been edited to simplify the complex language structure in which the original lectures were created. Eva’s native tongue was German and her sentence structure reflected this, sometimes resulting in awkward English usage. This edition also eliminates what can be seen as sexist terminology, common in the period of transmission of the material but not accepted in practice today and, in general, simplifies the language where to do so will not interfere with the meaning of the lecture itself."
THESE LECTURES COMPRISE AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF WISDOM FROM SPIRIT. Our suggestion is that you scan the list of lectures and pick ten (10) of them that resonate the most with you, based on the short descriptions provided. Then add lectures #14 and #15 since they apply the most to our discussions about spiritual influence, including the higher self, the lower self and the mask self. Read the dozen lectures you have selected at the rate of 1-2 articles per week, starting with #14 and #15. As an alternative to reading the lectures, we find that listening to them (as a free audio file) is even better. Sit comfortably in an easy chair, with your favourite beverage, and listen carefully.

"Influence Between the Spiritual World and the Material World, Pathwork Guide Lecture No. 15 – October 25, 1957.
Try each of the three alternative methods to find the one that works best for you.
